Adele has reportedly lost around 30 pounds. And she previously revealed that she slimmed down by limiting how much sugar she drinks.
"I used to drink 10 cups [of tea] a day with two sugars in each so was on 20 sugars a day," she said in 2015. "Now I don’t drink it and have more energy than ever."
Adele also reportedly receives meals from Pure Package. The food delivery service has menus specifically devoted to weight loss. "She’s eating a really clean diet, with lots of fruit and vegetables plus lean protein and complex carbohydrates," founder Jennifer Irvine reportedly said.
There are also reports that Adele used The Sirtfood Diet to lose weight. This plan emphasizes certain foods that activate sirtuins – a protein in the body that regulates metabolism. These foods include kale, strawberries, dates, olive oil, dark chocolate, arugula, citrus, coffee, and matcha tea.
For the first three days of The Sirtfood Diet, participants are allowed just 1,000 calories per day. That includes one sirtfood-heavy meal plus three juices made of greens like kale, celery, arugula, parsley, green tea and lemon. Over the next four days, the plan increases to 1,500 daily calories with two meals and two juices. After that, dieters can eat three sirtfood-heavy meals and one green drink per day.
Still, there are questions about just how effective and healthy the diet is."Most people won't see a fat loss in those early days. Likely it's water. You'll feel slimmer, but it's probably water weight. You can't lose fat in that short an amount of time," said Erin Morse, chief clinical dietitian at UCLA Health. "For a petite woman who is 5 feet tall and not very active, it's not very dangerous, but 1,000 calories would be much too low for a 6-foot-4-inch man to consume."
She has also been working out with trainer Pete Geracimo. He reportedly puts her through a regimen of weights-based exercises, Tabata interval training, and a circuit program that he calls the Modified Strongman Workout.
"Modified Strongman Workout is one of the fastest and most efficient ways of getting results," Geracimo recently said. "It trains a wide cross-section of muscle groups and is very effective in boosting your metabolism and fat burning." Some of Geracimo's workouts include water-running, hill springs, double rope swings, and log presses.
Still, Adele doesn’t plan to slim down too much. She previously told Rolling Stone that she lost weight "to get in shape for myself, but not to be a size zero or anything like that."
