"No," Clooney said when asked if Alamuddin was expecting. "But I like that you started that rumor."
Clooney made the comment at Tuesday's Good Money Gala in Amsterdam. And he also took the time to gush about his wife's work as a human rights lawyer. "The president of the Maldives was let out of prison, because of a lot of the hard work that [Amal] was doing," Clooney added. "She's had a very good week."
So for now, Amal Alamuddin remains focused on her work. But she is hoping to get pregnant in the near future. The couple reportedly visited a fertility clinic over the summer. And the stars are including a nursery in their England mansion.
"They decided that it would be the right time [to have a baby],” a source said in July. “Amal isn’t taking on extra work at the moment and just continuing with the cases she has.”
A second source added: “[George] loves the relationships his friends have with their kids. George is ready for this step and he thinks that Amal will be a great mother.”
So it's no wonder Alamuddin has been the subject of near-constant pregnancy rumors over the past few months. Back in November, fans thought the lawyer had a baby bump when she got into her car outside a restaurant. But obviously Amal Alamuddin wasn't pregnant then, or she would have been showing during her recent NBC News interview.
Those rumors came just months after Alamuddin sparked pregnancy talk over the summer by wearing baggy clothing. But she dismissed that speculation by looking thinner than ever at the New York Film Festival a month later.
