Ok, Bachelorette fans — let’s get real regarding the Season 9 finale of ABC’s hit reality show. During Part 1 of The Bachelorette’s final episode, we watched one of the most dramatic scenes in Bachelorette history: Brooks Forester left Desiree Hartsock sobbing on the beautiful island of Antigua, alone and heartbroken. Well, she was exactly alone. Desiree was accompanied by two men who love her, Drew and Chris, but boy did it seem like their existence didn’t matter.
Which brings us to the topic of today’s article: The Bachelorette’s Season 9 winner. Here at Hollywood Take, we've bantered back and forth over which contestant was ultimately going to get Des’ final rose, as well as her heart. But after Part 1 of Season 9's finale episode, we've reached the consensus that, despite appearances, the shaggy-haired salesman from Salt Lake City is going to be the one to propose to our beloved bachelorette.
Here’s why we think Brooks is going to win. The 28-year-old contestant looked absolutely tormented over his decision to leave Desiree during one of the final episodes of The Bachelorette. You could see his conflicted emotions when he discussed his feelings with his family, when he got on the plane to the Caribbean, and when he struggled to break up with the 27-year-old bridal designer on the dock.
After Desiree figured out what Brooks was trying to tell her, she completely broke down — in dramatic Bachelorette style. The theatrical reality show took a shocking turn, however, when Des confessed a few surprising things. "It throws everything off, having Brooks gone," she cried on Monday night's episode of The Bachelorette. "It breaks my heart. It breaks my heart knowing that I have two amazing, unreal guys who do love me. I just can't love them as much. And that's not what they deserve. Honestly, for me, it's over," Des confessed to Chris Harrison.
Uh-oh. What does this mean for the remaining two contestants? Will they stick around after finding out that Desiree thinks they’re second to Brooks? We can’t picture the two handsome men wanting Des’ final rose after that schpeel, which is why we think, in the end, that Des will give her flower to Brooky-boy.
According to Us Weekly magazine, Brooks claimed he regretted his decision to break up with Desiree almost immediately after the words came out of his mouth. “His feelings were incredibly strong, which made his decision [to leave] difficult,” the source said, adding that Brooks had been second-guessing himself the entire time he was speaking to Desiree on the dock.
But if Brooks does come back for redemption, will Desiree accept his apology, let alone his proposal? This is where we start to question Desiree’s choice in men. We though the bachelorette wanted a man she could give her heart to and "trust not to break it"! Looks like anything can happen on The Bachelorette, and we can’t wait to find out what Brooks has to say when he comes back.
