Today is the best day ever, and we’re not just saying that because it’s Friday. That’s right, something — or should we say someone — outshined the most coveted day of the week. But who? Beyoncé, of course.

When all of Queen Bey’s sleepy fans woke up on this glorious, chilly morning, they were greeted with the greatest surprise of all time: a new album. While Beyoncé was simultaneously on her world tour and mothering little Blue Ivy, the 32-year-old artist somehow managed to compile an amazing fifth studio album. The beloved star made our jaws drop when her self-titled “visual album” made its way to iTunes featuring a whopping 31 tracks, 17 of which are videos. Talk about Christmas coming early!

So why did Beyoncé decide to ditch promotion and hype? Jay Z’s wife explained on social media. "I see music as more than just what I hear," she said in a video clip. "When I'm connected to something, I immediately see a visual or a series of images that are tied to a feeling or an emotion, a memory from my childhood, thoughts about life, my dreams or my fantasies and they're all connected to the music. And I think that's one of the reasons why I wanted to do a visual album."

The surprise release gave the star a chance to “speak directly” to her fans. “There's so much that gets between the music, the artist and the fans,” she continued. “I felt like I didn't want anybody to give the message when my record is coming out. I just want this to come out when it's ready and from me to my fans."

So what did Bey’s fan say? Take a look ...

Thank you, Beyonce. #LongLiveQueenBey.
