Is Camila Cabello in a feud with Fifth Harmony? While she wanted to leave the band on amicable terms, rumors are swirling that they’ve been fighting.
Cabello opened up about her nasty split from Fifth Harmony to Billboard. “I think that in a group there is always going to be tension, whether it’s because of this thing or [another] thing,” she said. “I hoped that it would be a peaceful turning of the page and we would root for each other. But I only got love for them.” Cabello added that she hasn’t talked to the band, but she did reach out. “It makes me sad,” she said.
This comes after Lauren Jauregui seemingly tweeted about Cabello in response to Cabello’s Seventeen interview. Cabello said, “Fifth Harmony wasn’t the maximum expression of me individually. My fans are really going to know me from the music I’m writing. My goal is to be brave and open up my soul.” She wished the band the best. Jauregui then tweeted, “Fake the confidence bih. One day it’ll be real.”
Cabello and Fifth Harmony have been feuding for a while. The tension started back in December when Fifth Harmony said they learned Cabello quit through her reps and they “wish her well.”
Cabello then released a statement saying she was “shocked” by the band’s statement. She added they had “long much needed conversations about the future.” She told them she was leaving personally and they knew she was leaving for a while.
Just hours later, Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei Dinah Jane, and Lauren Jauregui released another statement saying they never had those conversations and that Cabello avoided them when they tried to convince her to do another album. She reportedly didn’t show up to meetings with the label and the group counseling they had set up. They then found out that she was quitting a month before her final show.
Both Cabello and Fifth Harmony have moved on with their careers since the fight. Cabello is working on her solo career by putting out music she feels really expresses herself. And Fifth Harmony performed for the first time without her at the People’s Choice Awards in January. But there’s clearly still some bad blood between them.
