Will Casey Affleck or Ryan Gosling win Best Actor at the 2017 Oscars? After both nominees won big at the Golden Globes, they will face off at Academy Awards. But the actors could not be more different. Gosling goes into this year's Oscars as one of Hollywood's favorite leading men, while Affleck is still dealing with backlash following sexual harassment allegations.

Gosling, of course, is nominated for his role as Sebastian in La La Land. He received universal acclaim for his acting, singing, dancing, and chemistry with Emma Stone. He’s loved by fans and critics alike and has all of Hollywood behind him. And with La La Land getting record-tying 14 nominations, Gosling’s definitely a front-runner.

Casey Affleck Casey Affleck plays a grieving janitor in 'Manchester By The Sea.'

If Gosling doesn’t win, Affleck will likely win Best Actor for his role as Lee in Manchester By The Sea. He received rave reviews for his powerful performance as Lee, a character dealing with his brother’s death and nephew.

However, Affleck’s sexual harassment allegations could hurt him at the Oscars, especially since fans were upset he won the Golden Globe. Affleck was accused of harassing two women while working on the fake Joaquin Phoenix documentary I’m Still Here. Affleck settled the cases. So he’s a much more controversial figure than Gosling.

RYAN GOSLING'S GOLDEN GLOBES SPEECH WAS AMAZING! DETAILS ...

Either Gosling or Affleck will likely win Best Actor. But they will face off against Andrew Garfield for Hacksaw Ridge, Viggo Mortenson for Captain Fantastic, and Denzel Washington for Fences at the 2017 Oscars.

Jackie Natalie Portman Natalie Portman transformed into Jackie Kennedy for her role in 'Jackie.'

The Best Actress category at the 2017 Academy Awards were much more wide open and will likely be the most unpredictable. Isabelle Huppert was nominated for Elle. Ruth Negga was nominated for Loving. Natalie Portman was nominated for Jackie. Emma Stone was nominated for La La Land. And Meryl Streep was nominated for Florence Foster Jenkins. Many believe that Huppert, Stone or Portman will win Best Actress at the 2017 Oscars. Huppert and Stone both won at the 2017 Golden Globes.

But there were a few surprises and snubs at the 2017 Oscar nominations. Many thought Amy Adams would be nominated for Best Actress for Arrival and that Emily Blunt would be nominated for The Girl on the Train. Annette Bening also wasn’t nominated for 20th Century Women. Fans were particularly shocked, though, that Streep was nominated for Best Actress over Adams.
