Each year, the CFDA Awards brings Hollywood actors, models and designers under one roof to honor top designers, stylists and journalists in the industry. The prestigious event honored Phillip Lim, Pamela Love and Proenza Schouler at the 2013 soiree, but it was the gorgeous gowns and stunning accessories that stole this year’s show. Here are our favorite trends from the CFDA red carpet.

Nicole Richie and Karolina Kurkova, two of the biggest showstoppers of the night, opted for liquid-gold and silver-streak metallics. Richie’s gilded Marc Jacobs gown featured a plunging back and halter neck that showed off the Fashion Star mentor’s flawless physique. Kurkova went for a silver spin on the metallic trend, wearing a two-piece short Michael Kors ensemble. The thigh-high hem left little to the imagination — but if you had those legs wouldn't you bare all, too?

In typical fashion Rooney Mara opted for a Goth-inspired gown for the New York red carpet, donning a sheer and lace Calvin Klein number featuring a high-low hemline. Mara paired the lush material with black satin pumps equipped with a dainty ankle strap and minimal makeup, which highlighted her alabaster complexion that glowed against a deep red lip. Jessica Chastain, took the plunge in to darkness, wearing head-to-toe black. Opting for a classic twist on the LBD, the Zero Dark Thirty actress chose a strapless Givenchy dress with open-toe stilettos. Like Mara, Chastain chose a berry-stained lip, accentuating her fiery locks.

Jewel tones have been making a comeback for some time, and the CFDA Awards saw the colors get even brighter. Sofia Vergara wore a body-con moss gown that put her enviable curves on full display. An emerald bib necklace by Lorraine Schwartz also pointed straight to her famous décolletage. Kerry Washington brightened up the rainy event with a canary-yellow princess gown by Jason Wu featuring an intricate back. Designer Tory Burch wore a Chanel A-line frock in deep blue and purple, mixing it up with an organic print.

Winter white may be chic, but summer white is even sexier! Models Erin Wasson and Alessandra Ambrosio clearly didn’t miss the memo. Wasson wore a killer Alexander Wang number with head-to-toe cutouts. Ambrosio rocked a one-shoulder Kaufmanfranco gown that revealed a tiny flash of skin above the waist. It Girl Olivia Palermo also opted for white, channeling the Gatsby '20s vibe with a fringed skirt and vintage bodice.
