Christie Brinkley has found the fountain of youth — or at least that’s what the cover of People suggests. On this week’s glossy front page, the iconic super model celebrated her 60th birthday while also rubbing it in everyone’s face just how gracefully she’s aged throughout the years.
"I'm actually excited about turning 60," Brinkley told the magazine. "I feel on top of my game." And she looks it, too. Going back to her Sports Illustrated swimsuit days, Brinkley slipped on a skin-revealing, teal one-piece that left very little to our imagination.
But just because the Michigan native is game to show off her long lean legs and toned arms, don’t think she’ll strip down to a bikini anytime soon. "My kids would be so embarrassed!” Brinkley confessed about the thoughts of her children seeing her rock a teeny bikini. "In private I may wear a bikini, but at the public beach with my kids I would change bathing suits because they do not want to be hanging out with some old broad in a bikini."
Old broad? You’re far from it, Christie! Seriously, look at those phenomenal curves. And we’re not the only ones to notice that the super model is aging like a fine wine. MJ Day, a senior editor for Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue gushed over how beautiful the catwalk vixen is. "She has the legs of a 30-year-old and the face of an angel. She's what you aspire to look like at 60. She's mind-blowingly beautiful,” he said. We couldn’t agree more.
So how has the mother of three maintained this fierce figure? Well, Brinkley dished her youthful secrets to People. "I love hanging out in health food stores," Brinkley, who's been a vegetarian since she was 13, said. "Some people are gourmands who love a fish smothered in cream. That doesn't appeal to me. I treat every day like I'm eating to fuel my body."
And the fuel Brinkley gets from her diet helps her stay active whether she’s running, lifting weights, spinning at SoulCycle, practicing yoga or even doing “leg lifts when brushing my teeth.” Now that’s dedication!
But the catwalk queen doesn’t care what you think about her body. All that matters is how she feels when she wakes up each morning, even if that means waking up another year older. "I don't believe in allowing my age to define me," she said. "And I really believe attitude plays a huge part in how you feel."
With that said, happy birthday, Christie!
