Did The Crown deserve to win Best TV Show Drama at the 2017 Golden Globes? With new, critically acclaimed shows like The Crown, Stranger Things, This Is Us and Westworld facing off against Game of Thrones, the Golden Globe really was anybody’s game.
Creator Peter Morgan missed his 11-year-old's birthday to be here. He said it was "bogus" that he was the creator of The Crown. Everyone around him on the stage was his co-creator. So he called up director Stephen Daldry, who thanked the cast and said working on The Crown was one of the "happiest" experiences of their careers.
This was a huge year for Netflix. The show The Crown received rave reviews from critics and was a top contender for the Golden Globe. It was beautifully shot and provided a more human look at the Royal family. Claire Foy and Matt Smith were praised for their work as Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. The Crown follows the life of the Queen from her wedding until 1955. It includes huge moments like her father’s death and the role of Queen being thrust upon her. The following seasons are expected to continue on until the present day.
There were also predictions that Netflix’s Stranger Things would win the Best TV Show Drama at the 2017 Golden Globes. Stranger Things is about the strange things that happen once Will Byers disappears from his Indiana hometown in 1983. His determined mother Joyce, the sheriff, his friends, and the mysterious Eleven work together to save him. The show was praised for its nostalgic feel and tributes to classics like Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, and more.
Westworld was HBO’s latest hit. Based on the 1973 film of the same name Westworld is a show about a Western-themed amusement park filled with robots who eventually become self-aware. Fans loved how detailed Westworld was. It even includes hints on its park websites. And the suspense and shocking twists kept audiences coming back for more.
This Is Us is a more emotional, heartwarming show on NBC. The show is about twins Kate and Kevin and their adopted brother Randall and how their lives connect. It’s a sentimental, compelling show with characters that keep drawing you in for more.
Finally, of course, there’s HBO’s Game of Thrones. And Season 6 was one of the best GoT seasons yet! With the “Battle Of The Bastards,” Cersei taking over the Iron Throne, Daenerys heading to Westeros, the R+L=J theory finally being confirmed, and more, Season 6 of Game of Thrones was absolutely amazing!
