Will Fifty Shades Darker be sexy or not? The chemistry between Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan has been constantly questioned, but the new steamy trailer has fans hoping the sequel will be hotter than 50 Shades of Grey was
A new promo for Fifty Shades Darker just came out, and it looks steamy. In the video, which is set to Taylor Swift and Zayn Malik’s “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever,” Christian Grey tries to convince Anastasia Steele to get back together.

Ana and Christian do eventually reconcile. They go on a yacht, see fireworks, and have plenty of hot sex. But the 50 Shades drama doesn’t end there, because Christian and Ana have a stalker! “Every fairy tale has a dark side,” the trailer says.
The biggest question we need answered, though, is whether Johnson and Dornan’s chemistry will be better during the 50 Shades sequel. That was a really big problem during the first film. Producers even had to re-shoot some of the scenes in the original movie because the footage wasn’t “passionate” enough.
“Dakota isn’t coming off sexy enough,” another source said at the time. “Ana needs to be naïve, not a dish-rag.”
But the re-shoots didn’t help. Fans were disappointed by the lack of chemistry in Fifty Shades of Grey. A.O. Scott wrote in The New York Times that 50 Shades couldn’t be pornography. “Ms. Taylor-Johnson’s sex scenes are not that much different from other R-rated sex scenes, though there are more of them and more hardware is involved. You know the routine: an arched neck, some curled toes, a buttock here, a breast there, a wisp of pubic hair, a muffled moan, another Beyoncé song. Maybe a riding crop for variety,” he wrote.
And Johnson has said that filming sex scenes is always hard. “The story is sort of like a thriller now, and it gets kind of scary … it’s awesome,” she said of the sequel. “[The sex scenes] involve a lot of specific movement, choreography, which is really interesting to me. It doesn’t ever get easy. It’s not like I’m like, ‘Let’s do this!’”
But fans are hoping that the sequel will be sexier, especially with E.L James and her husband taking on a bigger role. James promised the sequel will stick closely to the book, and the trailer does look promising.
