Are George and Amal Clooney getting a divorce? A new report claims the A-list couple is splitting up after two years of marriage. But insiders confirm the story isn't true.
A tabloid cover claimed this week that the Clooneys made a divorce announcement. But the actual story says the couple is still together. Instead, the report claims the marriage is "hanging by a thread." Supposed sources told the magazine that the couple didn't look happy together at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
The story added that Amal is upset George backed away from his decision to start a family. Amal also reportedly wants to move into the couple's English dream home, but George prefers to stay in Los Angeles. And George is supposedly annoyed by Amal's big spending, her tense relationship with his friend's wife Cindy Crawford, and her disapproval of George's desire for cosmetic procedures.
Still, sources confirmed to Gossip Cop that the Amal and George Clooney divorce rumors are false. In fact, George gushed about his marriage just a few months ago while celebrating his second anniversary.
"And they said it wouldn't last," George joked to ET in October. "Ah, we proved them wrong!"
Indeed, there were many who thought George Clooney was destined to be an eternal bachelor. But it's clear he was just waiting for the right woman to come along.
"I've never been happier in a relationship by any stretch of the imagination," he told Esquire in May. "At 52 I found the love of my life and I'm really happy."
George is particularly "proud" of Amal's work as a human rights lawyer. During the ET interview, he praised her "heroic" decision to legally represent a woman named Nadia Murad who was sold as a sex slave to ISIS. Even though this new case has kept Amal busy, she still manages to find time for her husband.
"Between all their important work, they always stay focused on keeping their marriage happy and healthy," a source told People. "They are very keen on not spending too much time apart."
