On Tuesday, the Whisper app tweeted that Gwyneth Paltrow cheated on Martin with entertainment lawyer Kevin York. So what exactly is this app? Apparently, it’s a new vehicle for sharing secrets that is run by former Gawker writer Neetzan Zimmerman. Zimmerman also tweeted the Paltrow cheating rumor on his own Twitter page.
“I can't reveal their identity for obvious reasons, but it's a person with extremely close ties to Gwyneth who came to us directly after Graydon Carter wrote that missive about why VF walked away from the Paltrow profile last year,” Zimmerman told Gawker after the Paltrow cheating rumor went viral. “I have no reason to suspect they're lying about this, and if anyone would know the truth, this person would.”
Indeed, this is not the first time Gwyneth Paltrow has faced cheating rumors. Last year, Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter promised to publish an exposé of the actress. Page Six then reported that the article would include speculation that Paltrow had an affair with billionaire Jeff Soffer.
Gwyneth Paltrow supposedly fought Carter and Vanity Fair over the magazine’s plans to run the article. But Carter claimed in this month’s issue that the story in question was not nearly as bad as everyone thought it would be.
“[Contributing editor] Vanessa [Grigoriadis] turned in her story at the end of the summer,” Carter wrote. “And it was just what had been assigned — a reasoned, reported essay on the hate/love-fest that encircles Gwyneth Paltrow. I thought it perfectly explained the whole phenomenon. But it was such a far cry from the almost mythical story that people were by now expecting — the ‘epic takedown,’ filled with ‘bombshell’ revelations—that it was bound to be a disappointment. What to do? I decided to sit on it for a time.”
As of now, it is unclear if Gwyneth Paltrow’s Vanity Fair story will ever run. But it sounds like this new Whisper app published a bombshell bigger than any of the revelations in the magazine story.
Already, Gwyneth Paltrow has denied having an affair with Kevin Yorn. The actress’ publicist, Stephen Huvane, called Whisper’s report “a fabricated story with no credibility at all.”
“The only time Gwyneth has even recently seen Kevin Yorn (who she knows only casually through business contacts) was on a flight from NY-LA,” Huvane told Gawker in an email. “Gwyneth was flying with her assistant and the CEO of Goop and Kevin coincidentally was also in the first class section. I cannot be more clear with you when I say she is NOT having an affair with Kevin Yorn and I will be notifying her attorneys as well.”
