Grab some popcorn, Homeland  fans, and maybe some tissues, because everyone’s favorite Showtime thriller is just about ready to air its dramatic third season. According to reports, Homeland will be making its grand entrance on the small screen on September 29. But our patience is running thin after the Emmy Award-winning series released its jaw-dropping Season 3 trailer.

Homeland’s Season 3 trailer picks up right where last season’s suspenseful finale left off, with Nicholas Brody (Damian Lews) saying goodbye to a tear-filled Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes). Mathison is left alone in the night as Brody flees, with only the light of her car to keep her from falling into complete darkness.

Soon the chirping crickets are overshadowed by the soundtrack to Homeland’s Season 3 trailer, which features The Cinematic Orchestra’s “To Build A Home.” The beautiful yet haunting melody foreshadows the drama that will occur during Homeland’s new season. According to the trailer, this is what Homeland fans can expect to happen during Season 3:

Brody will get a bloody new makeover. Not only will our leading man be seen sporting bullet-hole wounds in his back, but Mathison’s heartthrob will also be donning a fresh new buzz cut. Looks like someone is trying to go incognito! But seriously — no one can forget a handsome face like that. Especially Mathison, who is obviously distraught over Brody’s exile. The blonde-haired, bipolar CIA agent is seen holding her knees in a dark corner of her room, trying to come to terms with the fact that her love interest is a wanted terrorist.

But there’s some bad news for Brody fans. According to Homeland’s co-creator, Alex Gansa, the ex-marine sergeant will be missing in action for the first two episodes of Season 3. "I don't think it would be a betrayal to say that he's not in the first two episodes, but it would be a betrayal to tell you when he does appear," co-creator Alex Gansa said, referring to Brody's absence in the beginning of Season 3. "His flight from America just made it impossible to incorporate in the first two episodes."

The Season 3 trailer of Homeland does confirm that our beloved Brody is still alive. We just sadly won’t be able to see his new look until later in the show’s season.
