Jennifer Lawrence may seem like she has it all — an Oscar, a sharp as a tack personality and a gig coveted by many. However, beneath all the Dior is a 23-year-old woman with many secrets of her own. During an interview with French magazine Madame Figaro, the Hunger Games: Catching Fire star explained some of her struggles during her teen years.

"When my mother told me about my childhood, she always told me there was like a light in me, a spark that inspired me constantly. When I entered school, the light went out,” the pixie haired star explained. “We never knew what it was, a kind of social anxiety," she revealed. "I went to see a shrink. Nothing worked."

But one day Lawrence discovered how to overcome her social anxiety when she stumbled on her true passion. "One day, I begged my parents to take me to a casting, we went to New York and that's where I started acting," she said. "Just on stage, my mother saw the change that was taking place in me. She saw my anxieties disappear. She found her daughter, the one who had this light and joy before school." 

"I finally found a way to open the door to a universe that I understood, that was good for me and made ​​me happy, because I felt capable, whereas before I felt worthless," she said. "This is why mom fought for me to be an actress."

According to reports, Lawrence was so eager to begin her career in front of the silver screen that she graduated from high school two years earlier than expected with a GPA of 3.9 to land herself an acting job. Talk about brains and beauty!

And can you guess what her very first role was? Lawrence appeared on the television series Monk in 2006 portraying the role of a very vivacious mascot. But hey, what else can you expect from a gal whose nickname was “Nitro” as a kid. "My nickname was ‘Nitro' as nitroglycerin. I was hyperactive, curious about everything," Lawrence confessed.

That wasn’t her only pet name. During an interview, the actress opened up about a cringe-worthy nickname given to her by her Hunger Games co-stars. "Well mine is Katpiss Neverclean because we were shooting long hours and sometimes I would show up with the same blood and dirt on from the day before because I was tired and had to sleep, so I didn't shower, so I wasn't very clean," the actress confessed.
