Jessica Simpson knows a thing or two about being scrutinized while pregnant. The new mom to son Ace Knute is defending Kim Kardashian, who similarly came under attack for her pregnancy weight gain.

Simpson expressed her sympathy for fellow Hollywood mom Kim Kardashian, who came under fire while carrying North West. “I felt for Kim – I knew exactly what she was going through,” Simpson told Us Weekly. Having been attacked for the weight she gained during her first pregnancy with daughter Maxwell, Simpson said she knows firsthand how difficult the media criticism can be.

Kim Kardashian Jessica Simpson sympathized with Kim Kardashian, and gave her support to North's mom.

“I send a lot of love her way, and I know she’ll come back with a bang,” Simpson said. The 32-year-old mother of two voiced her disdain for the scrutiny that the media subjects celebrities to during their pregnancies. “I will never understand why people give pregnant women such a hard time,” Simpson lamented. “We are creating a human life: I think we get every excuse in the world to eat a doughnut!”

Another reason why Simpson was able to relate to Kardashian is because she shares a similar body type to the reality star, which Simpson said makes it especially difficult to stay slim during pregnancy. “I am definitely one of those pregnant women who just gains a lot of weight,” Simpson explained. “I have really big boobs, I have my curves and I just gain weight. I can’t help it.” Yet, with a Weight Watchers deal under her belt, Simpson is confident that she will regain her hourglass physique in no time.

Jessica Simpson Jessica Simpson can relate to Kim Kardashian because both women have hourglass shapes are more prone to pregnancy weight gain.

“It’s been six weeks since I’ve had my baby [Ace] now, and I feel great,” Simpson said. “It’s okay to gain weight, and it will always come off.” But while Simpson continues to work on her post-baby body, she doesn't hesitate to praise one famous mom who made pregnancy look easy. “Kate Middleton was glowing through her pregnancy,” Simpson gushed. “A lot of pregnant moms were looking at her like, ‘How do you do that?!’”
