Is it wrong for Jill Duggar to travel back to Central America while pregnant? That’s what Counting On fans have been wondering since she and Derick Dillard announced they were heading back to their mission work.
“After returning home for a short period, we are excited to announce that we are now returning to Central America!” they wrote in a blog post this week. “We are excited to be back to the work our hearts love so much. From the early stages of our lives the Lord has put a deep love and care in both our hearts for all the people of the world that they would come to repentance and put their hope in the Lord, Jesus Christ.”
Jill and Derick added that they want to support local churches and “impact hundreds of lives on a daily basis.” Once a week, they also go to villages that were hit by violence and help residents with skills training, Bible study, and crafts.
Jill also took to Instagram to post a photo of baby Israel at the airport. “We are headed out!” she wrote next to the pic.
Jill, Derick and Israel previously went to Central America to do missionary work for a year. But they returned last August. This trip will be a bit shorter. “We are planning to go back very soon,” Jill previously told People. “Then we will come back for the birth of the baby.”
Counting On fans are worried about Jill's trip because her first pregnancy and birth were complicated. She wound up having an emergency C-section after nearly 70 hours of labor. Fans also fear that Jill could contract the Zika virus in Central America.
But Jill’s not concerned. “There’s a level of ease that comes with your second pregnancy,” she told People. “Derick and I have been down this road together, so we’re comfortable. I’m just going to see how it goes, try to be healthy and prepare as much as I can. But this time I know that labor is unpredictable.”
And Jill does have a while before her baby boy’s July due date. So how are she and Derick preparing for their son? Well, they have to get Israel ready to be a big brother. And they need to think of a name for their second child. They previously said they’d probably go with a family name or a name from the Bible.
