Is Jim Carrey dead? Reports of a tragic snowboarding accident while Carrey vacationed in Switzerland with his family have surfaced, sparking shock and sadness. The death rumors claim that Carrey lost control of his board and struck a tree at a high rate of speed. He was transported to a local hospital, but was pronounced dead upon arrival. The new death rumors also come just days after his recent Golden Globes scandal with Shia LaBeouf.
However, it appears that Carrey is not dead and the reports of the snowboarding accident are fake; a similar story about Carrey surfaced in December 2012. Christian Slater also faced bogus death reports in a snowboarding accident in 2010, while Kanye West, Celine Dion and Johnny Depp have all had fake stories about them being killed in car crashes go viral.
However, It’s unclear whether a comment that LaBeouf made about Carrey following the Golden Globes helped make the snowboarding death rumors resurface. The actor poked fun at LaBeouf’s recent incident with plagiarism by declaring that “dying is easy. Comedy is hard ...I believe it was Shia LaBeouf who said that. So young, so wise.” In response, LaBeouf took to Twitter and wrote, “If you explain @JimCarrey you’ve killed him. Nobody knows if he’s real or not. That way he’s immortal.”
LaBeouf also made a shocking comment about Carrey’s parenting skills, which he later deleted. “At least I don’t get arrested for indecency on major highways! Or abandon love child’s,” he tweeted. But just hours later, LaBeouf apologized and tweeted that “[Jim] Carrey states that he is deeply involved in his daughter’s life - I accept that, regret tweet on the matter. Apologies to both parents.”
Carrey’s former long-term girlfriend, The View co-host Jenny McCarthy, publicly slammed LaBeouf for his tweets. “You can attack myself, but don’t bring my children into it. And I’m sure it’s the same for Jim,” she said. "Jim and I have become friends now since our breakup. We dated for five years and I got to know his daughter, Jane, who is a lovely, lovely girl. t's completely uncalled for and wrong. Jim is a great father. He loves Jane more than anything in the world. Shia did apologize and Jim did take it, but the whole thing is, do not bring our children into it."
