When Madison Beer met Justin Bieber years ago she never could have imagined how much her music would take off. At the time, he was her idol. And to have his support felt like a dream.

“He was basically like, ‘hey, I really believe in you and I think your whole look is awesome, your voice is awesome’ and I was just super-shocked because he was my idol at the time!” she told Hollywood Take at the American Heart Association Go Red For Women Red Dress Collection show at NYFW.

The 16-year-old Long Island native became a viral sensation when she debuted her covers of Adele and Bruno Mars. But it was her version of the Etta James’ classic “At Last” that impressed Justin Bieber, who signed her to Island Records. Beer and Bieber ultimately became good friends – but just friends, Beer told us.

“He’s actually one of my really good friends,” Beer said. So what do they do for fun? “We just hang out, but I haven’t seen him in a while because he’s been super-busy with new music. He’s always going to be someone I love.” Love, yes. Dating, no. “I definitely have a boyfriend, Jack Gilinsky, from [pop/rap duo] Jack & Jack.”

One thing Beer has in common with the Biebs is a passion for fashion. He is often spotted in NYFW front rows such as Opening Ceremony and Y-3. And Beer is already into several designers. “Versace, Chanel, and tonight I’m wearing Halston,” she said of her sleek, one-shouldered gown. She was both excited and nervous before the show. “This isn’t the first time I’ve attended a fashion show, but it is the first time I’m walking in one!” she explained.

As Beer had her makeup done, another emerging fashionista, Sofia Richie, was having her platinum locks styled. Richie has gotten plenty of tips from her big sis, Nicole, and her longtime friend Kendall Jenner. Richie, who was wearing Tabitha Webb, told Hollywood Take that she was psyched to hang out with Kendall and Kylie Jenner at NYFW. They had no official plans, but were happy to go with the flow. “I have no idea yet,” she said. “We’ll see where it takes us!”

Skylar Diggins isn’t a model, but she definitely looked like one in her Michael Costello gown. As the fearless point guard of the WNBA Dallas Wings, Diggins is far more than a beautiful face – her focus is on the basketball court. “I have a business degree from Notre Dame so when I retire I’m planning a career in business,” she told us.

The Red Dress cause is close to Diggins’ heart. Her advice for people getting started in the gym? “Just try to do something,” she said. “It’s not about training to be a pro athlete. Lead a healthy and fit lifestyle. Be active. Get out and move. Start somewhere.”

Ta’Rhonda Jones stars as Taraji P. Henson’s assistant, Porsha Taylor, on the Fox series Empire, and she has big dreams. On set, Henson has taken Jones under her wing. “Working with Taraji? She’s all about giving,” explained Jones, who was wearing Conrad Booker.

“She’s always giving great advice when it comes to anything I want to pursue.” When Henson won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Drama last month, it didn't go to her head at all. “Oh no!” said Jones. “A win for Cookie is a win for everybody!”
