Kate Hudson just revealed some of her diet and exercise secrets! So how does the mom of two stay in such good shape?
Hudson recently told Self magazine that she tried a bunch of different diets like Paleo, pescetarianism, and “this Ayurvedic thing that was no nightshades and you eat real clean.” But she says she was the most successful when she went mostly vegan.
Hudson isn't on a full vegan diet. Instead, she eats greens and legumes two or three days a week. “If you like meat, to be predominantly plant-based is good for you,” she said. “So why not be predominantly plant-based and every once in a while if you go to a great steakhouse, have a steak? I kind of try to look at it like that.”
Of course, Hudson is also very committed to her strict fitness regimen. She runs the athletic clothing line Fabletics and came out with the book Pretty Happy: Healthy Ways to Love Your Body.
Hudson’s biggest love is Pilates, which she says is “the foundation of everything” she does. She added that Pilates helps align her body and “makes it so strong.”
On top of her Pilates workouts, Hudson loves dancing and going out in nature. Hudson also takes fitness inspiration from her mom, Goldie Hawn.
“I was three years old when my mom enrolled me in dance class, and I practiced intensely until I was about 14. I was not a big fan of ballet, but she made me do it,” Hudson told Shape. “It was the best thing she could have done for me. In dance, you’re constantly competing with yourself, and you’re only as good as your practice.”
Overall, though, Hudson knows consistency is key. “You can’t do like two weeks and go like two days and then take a week off and then do three days and then go, ‘Why aren’t I seeing results? I don’t get it.’ You know, you just got to do it — sad, like anything else in life!” she previously said.
