Has Kate Upton been throwing diva fits and temper tantrums? Over the last few years reports have surfaced that the blond beauty is difficult. And a recent article claimed she wouldn't get a Sports Illustrated cover because of it. But Kate proved all the haters wrong.
She just landed her third SI Swimsuit cover. In fact, she’s on not one, but three different covers. And she looks amazing on the beaches in Fiji.
This year’s SI is all about body and age diversity. And Upton is “proud” to return to SI and be a part of that message.
“To have an issue that focuses on that is really an amazing moment for me because I think it’s important for everyone to be the best they can be, but not to strive to be a company or industry’s idea of perfect,” she said. “For SI to emphasize every different type of perfect is really inspiring. Those are the campaigns I want to do and the career I want to have – to inspire women to love themselves.”
The gorgeous covers follow reports that Kate's crazy demands are affecting her career. “There was drama. Kate demanded that if she did the shoot, that she absolutely must get the cover. She also had a list of photographers and hair and makeup people she would only work with,” a source said. “She was a big f--king diva. She thinks she’s better than everyone because she’s an actress.”
SI denied the diva rumors at the time, though. “It’s that time of year again. Who’s in, who’s on the cover, what will they do next? Everyone has a guess and that’s all this is,” a rep said.
But this isn't the first time we've heard about crazy demands. Back in 2015, sources said that Upton got a huge ego after her career blew up and she started acting. She reportedly started making crazy demands for photographer approval and refused to be photographed with other models.
Whether or not these diva rumors are true, though, Kate has been really successful in recent years. And these SI covers will only help her estimated $20 million net worth.
So how did Kate make so much money? Well, she’s obviously found massive success as a model by working with SI, Vanity Fair, Vogue and more. She also reportedly earned $7 million from endorsement deals with David Yurman, Bobbi Brown and Express, appearance fees, and acting roles.
