Kris Jenner is creating a verbal feud with Barack Obama for the sake of ratings. The Kardashian matriarch slammed President Obama on her talk show, Kris, taking offense to comments that he made earlier this summer about Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. The comments made by Obama did not seem controversial, but Jenner wasted no time responding, as ratings for her talk show continue to unimpress.
Last month, Obama said that celebrities like Kardashian and West have indirectly had a negative impact on how kids view the world. “We weren't exposed to things we didn't have in the same way kids these days are. There was not that window into the lifestyles of the rich and famous,” Obama said. “Kids weren't monitoring every day what Kim Kardashian was wearing, or where Kanye West was going on vacation, and thinking that somehow that was the mark of success.”
Jenner responded to the comments on her talk show last Friday, describing Kim as “the hardest working young lady in the world” and telling Obama to mind his business. "I bet the president has some friends with 10,000-square-foot houses and you probably wouldn't mind going over there, Mr. President, while you were asking them to have a party for you when you were campaigning for dollars to run for president," she said. If I'm not mistaken, that Mr. President's job affords him to live in a 55,000 square foot house. So basically my house would fit in his entry. I wasn’t aware that you could only set the bar so high and that we could only dream so big."
Unfortunately for Jenner, making a mountain out of a molehill hasn’t done much to improve the abysmal reviews and low ratings of Kris. Jenner has struggled to get major names outside of the Kardashian clan to appear on her show, while reviews of the show have almost unanimously slammed Jenner as vapid and uninteresting. The show is currently in its six-week trial run to determine if it will get picked up permanently, which, at this point, seems highly unlikely.
Jenner has also been accused of doing anything possible to boost ratings, including exploiting her own family. Before the debut episode, Jenner showed herself holding an infant on Twitter, leading everyone to believe that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s newborn child, North West, would make her first appearance on Kris. At the very end of the program, Jenner brought out an infant which belonged to her stylist and said that Kardashian would reveal her child when she was ready.
The talk show aspiree was even accused of trying to bribe critics for good reviews. New York Post TV critic Linda Stasi reported that Jenner sent her a bribe of a dozen Magnolia cupcakes and a $325 sterling silver pen from Tiffany’s in the hopes of getting better reviews for Kris. “Dear Linda, Sorry you didn’t like the show. I’m still a huge fan of your column. Love and blessings, Kris,” read the accompanying note. “P.S. When you think I’ve improved, maybe you will write a better REVIEW with this!”
