Get ready to see all of Leonardo DiCaprio. The actor dares to bare in the new film The Wolf of Wall Street. “It was all me, pal,” DiCaprio said about his nude scenes in the new Martin Scorsese film. “Look, when you do a character like this, you have to go all out,' DiCaprio said. “You can't pull any punches. You have to swing for the fences. Hopefully people enjoy it.”
DiCaprio plays Jordan Belfort in the film based on his real life during the ‘80s in NYC. “We wanted [the film] to be as authentic as possible… I got to spend a lot of time with Jordan, the real person. I spent many months with him before the film even started and I spoke to him constantly while we were making the movie and he was incredibly honest about how hedonistic he was during that time period in his life and he pulled no punches,” DiCaprio told Access Hollywood. “The character sort of took me over and that lifestyle on set, took me over, that mentality of giving into every possible temptation, once you get into that mind frame…the character sort of takes on a life of its own.”
“When you take on a character like this, you want to accurately reflect the nature of who these people are. You just gotta do it,” DiCaprio said about the now 51-year-old Belfort. “You can't think about yourself because it's not me. It's a depiction of somebody else.” In terms of the nude scenes, “I really didn’t think about it much, because I felt like I was trying to accurately portray what this guy’s life was like and all that stuff came with it and all of it really happened.”
The film, which comes out on Christmas Day, was nominated for Best Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globes and DiCaprio was nominated for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy. Since wrapping Wolf of Wall Street, DiCaprio hasn’t been working as much. "I think it's more of a vacation or a hiatus," DiCaprio said to E! News about his break. "I've already taken a lot of time off."
"You know this film wrapped in January, so I'm probably going to be looking for something to do soon," DiCaprio said. "But hopefully it'll be as exciting as a film like this. I don't know if I can find one."
