Melania Trump wore a flashy Dolce & Gabbana jacket for her trip to Sicily this week. It's another sign she is starting to showcase her strong personality during her international tour. But is her behavior appropriate?
Melania Trump has been fairly reserved throughout Donald Trump's presidency so far. She has mostly stayed out of the spotlight and focused on raising son Barron in New York City.
But the First Lady's personality has come out during this trip. She is not a shy woman. She knows what she wants, and Americans are starting to see it.
"My visit to Bambino Gesu Children’s Hospital today was very moving," she said after one of these visits. "To spend time speaking to and coloring with children who have such a positive spirit despite illness was an amazing gift. The time I spent with the little ones in the Intensive Care Unit is something I will never forget, and I will pray for each of them daily. I want to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the hospital, who all do such beautiful and critical work."
Melania Trump has even been more open about her faith, confirming after a visit with the Pope that she is Catholic.
But critics question if her Dolce & Gabbana coat was appropriate. Of course, Melania Trump is not the only First Lady to wear a costly designer outfit. Michelle Obama wore a custom Versace gown worth an estimated $12,000 to her final State Dinner. But even if Melania Trump wanted to wear an expensive jacket, she could have chosen a more understated look.
