Miley Cyrus started 2013 like a wrecking ball, and she's about to leave that way, too. The 21-year-old singing sensation has one-upped herself again with another provocative performance. But this time the sexy singer is trading in her notorious foam finger for one of her own. Cyrus has decided to go solo in her latest music video for “Adore You,” which features an intimate sex scene between the performer and — herself.

But before you hop on the judgmental express, why don’t you see the clip for yourself, which was posted on Cyrus' Instagram account this weekend:

The video received nearly 260,000 likes and about 24,000 comments from fans as well as foes. Most of them were in shock. But what exactly is so controversial about the “Adore You” music video? In a black-and-white teaser we see Cyrus, complete with tousled bed-head hair, slipping her hand down her drawers while arching her back in pleasure.

“Miley is so damn beautiful and talented!” one commenter wrote before complaining, "She doesn't have to be a slut and showcase her body to the public! I really really liked her! But my God, she doesn't have even a tiny respect for herself!" And while this opens Pandora’s Box regarding the taboo topic of female masturbation, we’d like to take the conversation in a slightly different direction to discuss the meaning behind Cyrus’ video.

According to reports, “Adore You” was written about the singer’s relationship with her former fiancé, Liam Hemsworth. “I love lying next to you. I could do this for eternity, you and me. We’re meant to be in holy matrimony. God knew exactly what he was doing when he led me to you,” the lyrics of Cyrus’ single read.

So if the “Adore You” lyrics were inspired by the Aussie hunk, did she also have him in mind while shooting the video? You be the judge! The "Adore You" video is set to be released in its entirety on Dec. 26.
