Paul Walker’s death wasn't only shocking to friends and family. The tragic accident left a gaping hole in the huge Fast & Furious franchise. Since the horrifying car crash, there has been endless speculation about who would replace the star in the still unfinished film. Now, after reports that James Marsden got an offer from Fast & Furious producers, it seems the look-alike actor is the current frontrunner, according to Deadline.

Walker also planned to play the male lead in the film opposite Source Code actress Michelle Monaghan. The film, based on the Nicholas Sparks book of the same name, follows two former high-school sweethearts who return to their hometown 20 years later for a friend’s funeral. True to Nicholas Sparks' novels, the characters’ romance is rekindled, but not without a few obstacles.

The Hollywood Reporter states that the Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues actor has been offered Walker's part in the film and is "just beginning negotiations" for the job. The Best of Me is not the only film slated to feature Walker.

The actor was supposed to begin filming Agent 47 after wrapping Fast and Furious 7, but Rupert Friend, currently starring on the show Homeland, may take Walker’s place in the film.

Fast & Furious 7 was already in production before Walker’s fatal accident, and there has been talk that Walker’s brother, Cody, will finish up the film in his place. Cody Walker has a striking resemblance, and it seems as though all of the replacing actors have similarities to the Fast & Furious actor.

A source from UK’s Daily Mail explained, “They can shoot Cody from behind and at distance and if it's a shot they need Paul's face in close up they can CGI it later on. If Cody agrees it's because he wants to honor his brother's memory. There are many details that still need to be worked out, but right now the family and cast and crew are all still grieving.”
