A Project Runway billboard was apparently too sexy for Los Angeles. The poster, which features nude models, was reportedly banned by the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety. The Department apparently felt the picture was too obscene for the city.

The billboard features the latest crop of contestants on the floor looking up at judge Heidi Klum, who is fully dressed on a throne. Mentor Tim Gunn is standing nearby with a scepter his hands.

The Project Runway billboard ban, however, did not last too long. One Instagram user spotted the ad in question on Sunset Boulevard and took the above photo to prove it. The picture cuts out some of the models' behinds, but otherwise it appears the same as the banned version.

Another major city is, apparently, less concerned about the nudity shown on the Project Runway billboard. The ad will appear on New York City billboards and magazines as planned.

This is not the first time an advertisement for the Lifetime series has raised eyebrows. An ad for Season 9 of the show featured Klum holding scissors and wearing only a tie. In Project Runway's Season 10 ad campaign, Klum sported lingerie while lying atop a pair of scissors.

In fact, Lifetime seems to be developing a trend of promoting its shows in risqué ways. Earlier this year, Jennifer Love Hewitt of The Client List revealed that the show had to tone down its Season 2 billboards after the ads for Season 1 featured the actress in sexy lingerie.

Klum has also shared revealing photos of herself on social media. This past weekend, the model posted a picture of a nasty sunburn that also included a peek at her behind.

Heidi Klum 2 Heidi Klum showed a bit too much skin in an Instagram photo over the July 4th weekend. Here, the model celebrates the holiday in a sexy bikini!

As such, Klum appears to be taking the controversy over this Project Runway billboard in stride.

"@ProjectRunway Designers!” she tweeted. We need clothing for these people! Fast! Season 12 starts July 18th on @lifetimetv!"

The reality show, which shows designers competing for a package of prizes, will feature Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia and Zac Posen, along with a rotating cast of celebrity guest judges, including Kelly Osbourne, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Kaley Cuoco. A new #RunwayRedemption feature will also allow fans to vote for a favorite contestant from a prior season to rejoin the competition.
