Looks like Rihanna’s not a Girls girl! According to reports, the fierce and fabulous Barbadian beauty refused to let the Emmy Award-winning HBO series use her hip-gyrating tune “Talk That Talk” in the show’s most iconic scene yet. We’ll give you a hint: “It’s A Wednesday night, baby, and I’m alive!”

But what’s the 25-year-old singer’s beef with Lena Dunham and her crew of Brooklyn natives? Nno one knows for sure — not even Girls’ music supervisor, Manish Raval. According to the man behind our favorite TV soundtrack, he anticipated using RiRi’s tune in Girls’ beloved Season 2 club scene.

You know the episode we’re talking about. It’s the one where Hannah ends up snorting coke with her ex-boyfriend/roommate Elijah (Andrew Rannels), which results in the protagonist sporting a neon mesh tank top and dancing around wildly in the club.

"You know, honestly, I don't know," Raval responded to why Rihanna didn’t want her song being used in Episode 3 of the show’s second season. “They didn't give a reason, we didn't ask for a reason," he added. "So I can't speculate as to why.” But Raval confessed he’s kind of happy that Rihanna did reject the opportunity to showcase her single in Girls seeing as the music supervisor found a much better match for the episode: Icona Pop’s “I Love It.”

“But you know, it's a happy accident,” Raval admitted. “She said no and we happened to find the Icona Pop song." In fact, the Swedish duo’s debut on Girls was Raval’s favorite music moment thus far! “My favorite one was the cocaine-induced slow motion Icona Pop singalong ... I just couldn’t hold back the excitement when that was unveiled to the world,” the tune guru told fans during a Q&A. “From the response, it seems like people really liked it.”

Considering how our Facebook, Twitter accounts, and radios couldn’t stop buzzing about the indie pop artists, we’d say so!
