Sandra Bullock is a lot of things. She’s a brilliant, Oscar-winning actress, a loving mother to her 3-year-old son Louis, and has even been awarded the title “Entertainer of the Year” courtesy of Entertainment Weekly. But out of all Bullock’s accomplishments, accolades and hidden talents, fans seem to be most interested in whether she is, or is not, dating anyone right now.
“If [a relationship] should come along, great. But I feel like I’m not missing anything yet,” the Gravity star explained of being single to EW. “Maybe one day I will. But my song is 3 years old, which is an amazing age. Four is an even better age. So if something happens, great, but if not, I’ve got plenty to do.”
But, of course, Bullock isn't alone. She has little Louis by her side keeping her schedule jam-packed with mother-son activities. In 2012, a source told People magazine that Bullock was very particular about who she let in her life “because of Louis. He is her priority. He is her world.”
The reason for Bullock’s meticulous behavior may stem from the actress' highly publicized divorce from her ex-husband Jesse James. In 2010 it was revealed that the motorcycle customizer had broken his vows to Bullock, 49, when several women claimed to have had illicit affairs with James. Two months prior to the cheating scandal, Bullock had brought home her adopted baby, Louis, in hopes of turning their family of 2 into 3.
"Life is a series of disastrous moments. In between those moments, that's when you savor, savor, savor,” the actress said, reflecting on her past. But Bullock isn’t the only actress in Tinseltown raising a child alone. Here are five stars who are single mothers:
1.Charlize Theron adopted her son Jackson in March 2012 after the actress ended her nine-year relationship with boyfriend, Stuart Townsend, in 2010.
2. Michelle Williams had become a single mother to her daughter Matilda since the death of her then-boyfriend Heath Ledger in January 2008. Together the couple welcomed their baby into the world October 2005.
3. Diane Keaton never married and took on the role of a single mother to two adopted children Dexter and Duke.
4. Sheryl Crow has been raising her two sons, Wyatt and Levi, on her own since they were adopted. “A family doesn’t always look like girls meets boy, they fall in love, they get married, they have a kid,” Crow continued. “I said, ‘OK, I’m going to let go of what I think things are supposed to look like, because I can’t control anything. When I try to control thing, that when I keep things from happening.’”
5. Mary-Louise Parker was seven-months pregnant when her ex-boyfriend Billy Crudup packed up and left. Since then, Parker has been raising her son William and adopted daughter, Caroline “Ash” Aberash Parker, on her own.
