What will happen to Olivia Pope, Mellie, Fitz and the rest of the gang on Scandal Season 6? Predictions and spoilers are swirling with the premiere just weeks away.
The Scandal Season 6 Premiere has actually been delayed a week. While Scandal and the other TGIT shows were supposed to return on Jan. 19, they’ll come back on Jan. 26 instead. That's because there will be a pre-inauguration special about the Trump family on ABC News.

But questions will be answered when Scandal finally returns. Of course, we will find out whether Mellie or Frankie won the election. Spoilers say the premiere will flash forward to the results, but there will also be flashbacks to show how we got there.
Of course, this was an election year in the real world too, and there have been a ton of comparisons between the real election and the one on Scandal . But Shonda Rhimes says any similarities are pure coincidences. In fact, Scandal actually started production on Season 6Scandal back in July because Kerry Washington was pregnant.
“I don’t really equate the two. That’s not really the goal, obviously. If that had been [the] goal, we would have waited until after the election,” Rhimes recently told reporters during the 2017 Winter TCA Press Tour. “The goal had been really to tell the story we had been telling.”
While Mellie or Frankie will have a new job after the election, Fitz will be transitioning out of the Oval Office. And spoilers say we’ll get to see what kind of role he takes on as a private citizen on Scandal.
So what else will happen on Season 6 of Scandal? Predictions say the episodes will each be told from a different character’s perspective. “[This season is] really about where [the characters] come to after all this time,” Rhimes said. “We’ve watched them descend from any moral high ground they could have possibly had to the lowest depths. … It’s very different from any other season we’ve had.”
