Tessanne Chin won the fifth season of The Voice, giving coach Adam Levine his second win. “It was an out-of-body experience. I heard [Carson Daly] say my name and I was like, ‘No, he didn’t!’” Chin told Extra about winning. Chin also said that she was in “absolute shock” when host Daly said she was the winner.
"It's unbelievable. I'm just so grateful," Chin said to E! News. "I worked very hard for this moment." Chin beat out Will Champlin from Team Adam and Jacquie Lee from Christina Aguilera’s team. "Tessanne Chin deserved to win this and there's no one on this planet Earth other than her family and her husband who is more proud of her,” Levine said “this was all her."
Chin also had kind words for her Sexiest Man Alive coach, Levine. "I just think the world of him,” Chin said. “I have a lot to be grateful for as far as Adam is concerned because he definitely led me right."
After Chin accepted her trophy and greeted her mom and husband on stage, the new Voice winner sang her first single. The song called “Tumbling Down” was written by One Republic’s Ryan Tedder exclusively for the winner of The Voice.
“I love it,” Chin said. “I love the angle he took with it. I love that it is a solid song. I feel like any song you give me, I will put my spin on it. It is a very cleverly written song because remember he wrote it with three people in mind, so I am looking forward to working with him [to make it] specifically for me.”
Tedder confirmed to Daly on The Voice that he would be working with the winner, probably starting in January. So, what will Chin do until then? “I want to go home for a little bit and be with my family, eat some good food, snuggle up, sleep in my own bed, and then I am ready. I am ready to go and ready to start doing this. No joking around.” We certainly believe her!
