There are certain designer collections at Target that become obsessions before they ever hit the racks. Victoria Beckham's line is sure to be one of those covet-worthy crazes. Merging chic neutrals, whimsical stripes and flirty florals, the collection features the classic silhouettes the former Spice Girl has become known for.
Victoria Beckham X Target will arrive in stores and online on April 9. It’s a 200-piece spring line tailored for mothers and daughters.
“I wanted to do a collection for a woman who doesn’t want to pay so much,” she said. “It was about celebrating my relationship with Harper.”
Indeed, Beckham looked to her 5-year-old daughter for inspiration. She used things they did, like pressing flowers, and incorporated them into the clothes. For example, there’s a clear plastic raincoat with black edges and pockets with pastel petals in them. There are even adorable mommy-and-me clothes like a black dress with a rabbit on the white collar.
Beckham went with a whimsical English tea theme for her Target line. There’s a teapot print fabric on some clothes, and dresses made from a painted English flower print. There are also plenty of scalloped edges, embroidered bugs and other fabulous designs.
And Target’s going all out for the launch. Sticking with the “whimsical English tea garden” theme, there will be tea carts in stores and parties during the day and after hours. The mothers and daughters’ clothes will even be sold together.
This new collection will give Beckham’s estimated $450 million net worth a huge boost. Prices range from $20 to $70 for women and $6 to $30 for girls. The clothes will be sold both in Target stores and on Beckham’s website.
Of course this isn’t the only way Beckham has made money. She also has her wildly successful eponymous label, as well as her lower-priced Victoria by Victoria Beckham line. She sells dresses and other clothes alongside handbags, eyewear, fragrances and more. And based on the success of her first two collections, Victoria Beckham For Target should be a huge hit, as well.
