Zoe Saldana made a splash in the news when the 35-year-old Star Trek actress confirmed her secret marriage to shaggy-haired beau Macro Perego. "It was super small but very romantic and beautiful," a source revealed to Us Weekly of the June ceremony, which was attended by only a select few friends and family members in London.
According to reports, the New York native and her Italian artist husband had “known each other a long time” before the two discretely tied the knot. “They have great chemistry,” a source added of the couple who first made their romance known when the two were spotted kissing after Saldana’s Star Trek Into Darkness premiere in L.A.
But despite the world being filled in on the hush-hush event, Saldana has never truly opened up about her secret wedding — that is, until she appeared on Jimmy Kimmel’s late night talk show on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
"Congratulations! You got married since the last time I saw you," the host said. The last time Saldana appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! was May 8, just four days prior to her lip-locking session on the red carpet with Perego. "I did," Saldana replied. "And congratulations to you, too. You got married." "Thank you," Kimmel, who had his own summer wedding with Molly McNearney, answered before quipping, "It's not a competition, though. We don't need to just go around getting married." That’s when the Guardians of the Galaxy star brought the heat, asking Kimmel where his nuptials occurred. "I got married in England. I did it in England. Can you top that?" Saldana joked. “No,” Kimmel replied with a laugh. "So it is a competition!" the actress proclaimed.
But the brown-haired beauty isn't the only star in Tinseltown to get hitched under the radar. Saldana joins the elite group of celebs who managed to say “I do” out of the spotlight!
Kelly Clarkson and her talent manager/husband Brandon Blackstock exchanged vows during an intimate wedding on Oct. 20. "I'm officially Mrs. Blackstock,” the American Idol winner updated her fans on Twitter.
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are another red carpet-couple who tied the knot behind closed doors. According to reports, The Gossip Girl actress and her hunk husband became husband and wife during a top-secret ceremony in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina last September.
Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard had the “World’s Worst Wedding” when the two married in a small, low-key, and reportedly spontaneous ceremony at a courthouse. "Friends of ours came to the courthouse," Shepard said. "It was just Kristen and I at this lonely courthouse, so they brought us this cake afterwards. 'World's Worst Wedding.' How many people can say they threw 'The World's Worst Wedding?'"
Kerry Washington and Nnamdi Asomugha shocked fans when the two announced they got married in Idaho on June 24. The couple allegedly only invited a few friends and family members to join them on their special day.
Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig now have their own Dream House and family after the two actors got married in New York in June 2011. The ceremony was attended by just four guests, including the couple’s children from precious relationships — Daniel’s daughter, Ella, and Rachel’s son, Henry.
